THE STORY BEHIND THE SALE We put this home on the market in spring of 2020 – the weekend COVID’s safer-at-home orders were issued. Needless to say, we received very low offers the first month it was on the market. Everyone thought the pandemic would cause the market to tank and it caused real estate to stand still during that month. The seller made the wise decision to pull it from the market at the list price of $410,000 and wait it out.
Fast forward to 2021, the real estate market is now crazy. A shortage of homes has caused median prices to rise 25% in this area. The seller made the wise decision to put the home back on the market at $500K. After a multiple offer situation, this same home has now sold for over $100K higher than the offers we received in 2020.
Patience has definitely paid off for this downsizing family. I am thankful for a happy ending to this chapter for them. Just like you would regularly check your retirement portfolio, it is important to stay in contact with agents that can give you an accurate valuation of one of your most important assets: your home! You never know when it may be the best time to cash out.
